Daily Scripture and Prayer- James 4:13

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”  St James the Apostle ( James 4:13)

Mankind with all of their business savvy, scientific progress, and medical advancement still….die. Life is a Gift. “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalms 90:12) Children of God have been promised life eternal. We have also been entrusted with the glorious mission of being Ambassadors to Christ and to faithfully carry out the Father’s business of spreading His kingdom abroad. (Matthew 24:45; Matthew 28:19, 20)    This is the same kingdom of God in which   Jesus invited us to seek first AND the righteousness  of God so that all other things will be added to us. (Matthew 6:33)

So….how are we counting our days with God?

Prayer: Heavenly Father we long daily to be in your presence. Help us to make the most of our lives by seeking your will and doing it. When your whisper to our hearts help us to hear and obey you.  Let us never forget all that you have shown us and how you have carried us.  We cast fear by our perfect love of you the God who rescues us from harm.  We thank you for protection and ask for your continued direction.  Break us free from distraction and help us develop a longing for your Word and utterances and live on the Bread of life alone.

In the Mighty Name of Jesus, We Pray
