In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be”.- Romans 4:18

Even when there is no reason to hope [a confident expectation and trust] and everything looks hopeless we, like Abraham, must hope against hope. In hope, Abraham believed against the improbability of his situation. God promised him and his wife Sarah a child while they were an elderly couple and Sarah was past the years of childbearing. Yet, Abraham remained steadfast in his hope and confidence in the divine promises and assurances of God and he was greatly blessed by God. Abraham lived by the Word of the Almighty who has the power to create, recreate or even destroy our own plans in our lives for His Glory and our benefit.( Jeremiah 29:11)  God leads us by the prompting of the Holy Spirit and sometimes our plans interfere with the plans that God has for us.

Our hearts can be deceptive and desperate and at times we can reason or even act as those who have no hope or we are stuck in a cycle of grieving deeply over our situations to the point that we squeeze God out our situations. ( Jeremiah 17:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:13)  Like the father of our faith, Abraham, in our darkest hours, we fully trust God and are confident in making a choice to live not on what we believe we cannot do but on what God promised us He will do! ( Isaiah 55:11)

Prayer: Heavenly Father help us to hold fast to your promises and trust you. Help us to seek you for who you are and not what you can do for us. Thank you for your living, written Word that guides us into your heart and thoughts on every matter that concerns us. Holy Spirit give us the strength to show up and come up strong for God while being absolutely sure that He will show up for us in the bleakest of circumstances.  We praise you Jesus for giving us the victory and making us more than conquers in our lives no matter what it looks like.  Help us to become pregnant like  Abraham’s wife Sarah but with spiritual vision,  spiritual blessings and spiritual offspring to birth now and for eternity.

In your mighty name, we pray, Amen.
